Website Approval Process

Introduction

All websites developed by Lodges, Chapters and Preceptories under the jurisdiction of the following bodies must gain approval from the Worcestershire Website Standards Committee:

Before you submit your website for approval, you must ensure it meets the Provincial Website Standard.

Website Approval Process

When you are confident your website meets the Provincial Website Standard, you must email its URL to the appropriate member of the Worcestershire Website Standards Committee:

For example, you would contact E.Comp. R. D. Symes to perform the review of a Royal Arch Chapter website.

It is important your website is live on the internet at the time of the review, so it can be viewed by the appointed Committee member. Although live on the internet, your website and its URL should not be publicised until formal approval has been given.

When approved by the Committee, a link to your website will be added to the links page on the appropriate Provincial website.

In the case of websites falling under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England, you will then be referred to the United Grand Lodge of England for formal approval. When approved, the United Grand Lodge of England will issue your website with a Charter Mark. The Charter Mark is a JPEG image that contains a small representation of the arms of the United Grand Lodge of England, together with a unique reference number that refers to the Lodge or Chapter to which it was issued. The Charter Mark must not be modified in any way, nor should it be displayed on any website other than that to which it was issued. As a minimum, the Charter Mark must be displayed on your website's welcome page and have an associated hyper-link to the website of the United Grand Lodge of England (http://www.ugle.org.uk/). In addition, the Charter Mark image must have an alternative attribute (ALT) containing the following short description: "Approved by the United Grand Lodge of England." Further information regarding the use of the Charter Mark will be provided by the United Grand Lodge of England at the time of issue.

Please note that the approval process can take several weeks. Typically, the first assessment, made by the Worcestershire Website Standards Committee, will take between 1-5 days to complete. If appropriate, the second assessment, made by the United Grand Lodge of England, will take between 3-4 weeks, but please be aware that this may increase at certain times of the year. This process may need to be repeated and is dependent upon the work of the web master and his adherence to the Provincial Website Standard.

This process is both friendly and informative, and has been designed to ensure all our websites are developed in accordance with the Provincial Website Standard.

Updates and Modifications Made to Approved Websites

If an approved website is updated or modified by the web master who held that post at the time of the review, he need not seek further approval from the Worcestershire Website Standards Committee.

If there has been a change of web master since the review was performed, advice must be sought from the Secretary of the Worcestershire Website Standards Committee.

All web site updates and modifications must be compliant with the Provincial Website Standard.
