PGM's Christmas Blog - December 2016

With the Tercentenary of the first Grand Lodge next year coinciding with the fast approaching launch of our 2022 Festival in support of the MCF, we are certainly in exciting and busy times.  I hope that all of us will want to be fully involved in one way or another with the many Provincial events planned for 2017 and perhaps developing other suitable lodge and meeting place celebrations.

The Festival Launch at Chateau Impney on January 21st promises to be a very special occasion, with the Assistant Grand Master attending as our guest and with all tickets sold out some time ago.  I hope that it will set the scene for a Festival that will be a time of enjoyment for everyone, including our families and friends.

I recently had much pleasure in consecrating Lodge of Restoration No. 9935 on what proved to be a great day and send good wishes to its members for a long and fruitful association with Worcestershire. Likewise we wish the petitioners for another new Lodge, Aedificandum No. 9937 every success for its consecration on the 14th January and good fortune in re-establishing freemasonry in Droitwich; according to recent press reports, Droitwich being the third best place in the country in which to live!

The build up to Christmas saw the thoroughly enjoyable Carol Service and “Triple Century” Charity event at Kings Heath, led in his inimitable style by our Provincial Chaplain, Justin Parker and soon afterwards, Stephenie and I were pleased to join the Ladies at their Friendship Club Christmas Lunch. Many congratulations to the Ladies of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire who once again organised a very successful Christmas Fayre at Wolverhampton.

At the Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge last week, it was announced that Worcestershire has been afforded the great honour of receiving an official presentation of the 2017 Prestonian Lecture, one of only three being given to private lodges. This will take place at the Regular Meeting of Worcestershire Installed Masters’ Lodge on 13th May and is entitled “The Grand Design”, the lecturer being RW Bro Dr James Daniel PSGW – something definitely not to be missed.

With Christmas now almost upon us, spare a though for those of our brethren, and others, who are experiencing difficult times, and offer help wherever you can.

Stephenie and I hope that you have a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Best wishes,

Robert Vaughan
